A lower per-m³ rate can still mean a higher invoice once delivery, pump, minimum load and waiting time are added.

Convert RMC quantity to material cost

Multiply the concrete volume in m³ by the per-m³ rate, then add 18% GST if the rate excludes it. Get the wet volume from the concrete calculator; RMC is ordered as fresh concrete, so do not apply a dry-volume factor.

Starting price: Building Needs Chennai M25, before 18% GST; delivery and pump extra where applicable. Changing the unit reinterprets the entered number. This tool preserves your price basis; it adds no GST, freight or pump charge.

₹159.99/cft · ₹15,999.00/brass · ₹5,650.00/m³

Material subtotal: ₹5,650.00

1 brass = 100 cft; 1 m³ = 35.3147 cft. A supplier’s “unit” means 100 cft only where the source explicitly says so. No tonne conversion is made.

Worked example: a 10 m × 5 m × 125 mm slab is 10 × 5 × 0.125 = 6.25 m³, before beams and allowances. At ₹5,650 per m³ that is ₹35,312.50; 18% GST adds ₹6,356.25, for ₹41,668.75. Delivery and pumping are extra.

This is the concrete only, not a finished slab cost: steel, formwork, labour, curing and testing are extra. Set the order allowance from the actual formwork and pour, and add it once.

Pump charges, delivery and order terms

Pump charges are quoted per order; neither seller publishes a rate. Building Needs charges pump and delivery extra where applicable and states no minimum order. M&B Chetty’s rate includes transit-mixer delivery, with pumping extra.

Ask for a site-specific quote covering pump type and reach, mobilisation, minimum volume, waiting time, part loads and returned concrete. Confirm the mix, plant, dispatch sequence and truck access before booking.

GST on ready-mixed concrete

Ready-mixed concrete supplied as goods under HSN 3824 attracts 18% GST under Schedule II, entry 110 of Notification 9/2025 — Integrated Tax (Rate), dated 17 September 2025, effective 22 September 2025 (PDF page 42).

The GST Council’s 2017 rate schedule places ready-mix concrete under tariff item 3824 50 10; the current rate comes from the 2025 notification. A contract that also covers placing or pumping is classified separately.

Later amendments, Notification 19/2025 (31 December 2025) and Notification 01/2026 (30 April 2026) with its 6 May 2026 corrigendum, do not change these entries. Where a price already includes GST, do not add it again.

Buying checks: IS 4926 and the pour record

Pay for the volume on the delivery tickets, checked against what you ordered. The BIS checklist for IS 4926:2003 says RMC is supplied and invoiced by cubic metre of compacted fresh concrete (clause 5.1.2), and each load needs a delivery ticket with the Annex G details before discharge; the ticket is the basis of invoicing (clause 9.4).

  • Order the drawing’s grade and approved mix, required workability, aggregate size and placement method. A cheaper grade is not a substitute for the specified grade.
  • Agree delivery slots, truck access, pump reach, planned discharge and testing arrangements with the plant and site engineer.
  • Request a written split for concrete, GST, transport, pump mobilisation, pumping volume, waiting time, part-load and return charges.
  • Check each ticket against the order and accepted quantity; retain batch records, site test records and cube reports for the engineer’s acceptance process.
  • Agree how additions at site and rejected or returned concrete are recorded. Keep the ticket and accepted quantity with the invoice.

Methodology and source dates

We check free public sources by hand. Each price keeps the date its source gives for that rate, not the date we found it. “Listed” is a seller’s advertised price; “reported” is a market publisher’s reference rate. Unit conversions keep the source’s GST basis, and a row shows a range only when its source publishes one. We have not verified any sale or dealer quote. Prices dated more than 7 days before the check are marked as older references and left out of the summary range. The summary range is the lowest and highest of the recent prices shown, not an India-wide average. The tables change only when we re-check the sources by hand. No trend chart is published for these materials. Source units and tax bases stay separate, and no tonne price is converted to volume.

What we could not verify

  • Chennai only, from two sellers; no dated price for another city was found. M15, M35 and M40 have one listing each.
  • No pump, waiting-time, part-load or cancellation charge is published by either seller. Brand, mix design, slump and the delivered invoice depend on the order.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RMC price today?

₹4,850–₹6,500 per m³ before GST for M15 to M40 in Chennai listings dated 21 Oct 2026: M20 is ₹4,850–₹5,400 and M25 is ₹5,350–₹5,650. Pumping is extra, and neither seller publishes a pump rate.

What is the M20 RMC rate per m³?

₹4,850–₹5,400 per m³ before GST in the Chennai listings. M&B Chetty’s indicative rate includes transit-mixer delivery; Building Needs adds delivery where applicable. Pumping is extra with both.

What is the M25 RMC rate?

₹5,350–₹5,650 per m³ before GST in the Chennai listings checked 21 Oct 2026. The grade alone does not fix cement content, slump, aggregate size or delivery scope, so compare the full specification.

How much is the RMC pump charge?

No published figure: both Chennai sellers quote the pump charge with the order. Ask about mobilisation, pump type and reach, volume, minimum charge, waiting time and cleaning.

How do I calculate RMC quantity and material cost?

Multiply the dimensions in metres: 10 × 5 × 0.125 = 6.25 m³ for a slab, before beams and allowances. At the Building Needs M25 rate of ₹5,650 per m³, the concrete costs ₹35,312.50 before GST, delivery and pumping.

Is RMC GST 18%?

Yes, 18% for RMC supplied as goods under HSN 3824: Schedule II, entry 110 of Notification 9/2025 — Integrated Tax (Rate). A contract that includes placing or pumping is classified separately. All concrete prices here are before GST.

Can I use M20 instead of M25 to save money?

No, not on price alone. Use the grade on the structural drawings. IS 456 allows M20 for reinforced concrete only in mild exposure; for moderate exposure, which includes concrete sheltered from saturated salt air in coastal areas, the minimum is M25. Ask the structural engineer before changing the order.

Do you have verified RMC prices for other cities?

No. Only Chennai listings passed this check. We do not scale Chennai prices to other cities or treat undated advertisements as current quotes.

Apply these rates to measured quantities

Multiply the rate by the measured concrete volume for each pour. For a whole building, get a BOQ from your drawings with concrete, steel and formwork quantities measured item by item.
