Paver block price by thickness: 60 mm and 80 mm

60 mm pavers are ₹44.85 per sq ft and 80 mm pavers are ₹49.85 per sq ft on M&B Chetty’s Chennai list of 21 Oct 2026. The seller calls these indicative rates, says they are set below the Chennai market rate it checked, and confirms the brand and price with each order. It labels 60 mm for footpaths and sit-outs and 80 mm for car driveways.

“Interlocking tiles” here means outdoor concrete pavers, not ceramic, rubber or clay tiles. The seller does not say which shape (zig-zag, I-shape or rectangle) these rates are for.

Six of M&B Chetty’s area pages around Chennai show the same two rates, dated 2 October 2026; the seller says one rate applies across its Chennai delivery zones. Delivery to Gummidipoondi, Ponneri and Tiruvallur is quoted per order. We keep each page’s own date, so these rows are marked older and left out of the headline figure.

100 mm: no dated price was found. Get a written quote; don’t extend the 60-to-80 mm gap to guess it.

Convert ₹ per sq ft to ₹ per piece, and back

Price per piece = price per sq ft ÷ pieces per sq ft. To go back, multiply the piece price by the same pieces per sq ft. Use the actual block’s laid coverage, joints included.

Worked example: 100 sq ft of paving

100 sq ft = 9.290304 m². With an assumed 200 × 100 mm laid module, joints included, coverage is 1 ÷ (0.2 × 0.1) = 50 pieces/m², so the count is 9.290304 × 50 = 464.5152, or 465 pieces before cuts and breakage.

At ₹44.85/sq ft, the area price is 100 × ₹44.85 = ₹4,485. That works out to ₹44.85 ÷ 4.645152 = ₹9.66 a piece; billed as 465 whole pieces, it is ₹4,489.68. The seller has not stated a shape or a piece price, so confirm the billing unit. GST, freight and laying are not included.

Paver laying cost: ask for these items separately

Laying is not in these prices, and we have no verified rupee rate for it. Ask each contractor to price the items below separately, for the same area and build-up, so the quotes compare.

Example: 100 sq ft at an assumed 30 mm bed is 9.290304 × 0.03 = 0.27870912 m³ of sand in place. That is arithmetic, not a recommended thickness or a loose-sand order; take bedding, sub-base and compaction from the project detail.

GST on concrete paver blocks: HSN 6810 at 18%

Concrete paver blocks under HSN 6810 attract 18% GST. That is Schedule II entry 226 (PDF page 50) of CBIC-hosted Notification 9/2025 — Integrated Tax (Rate), dated 17 September 2025 and in force from 22 September 2025. Later amendments 19/2025 and 01/2026 do not change this entry.

Check the HSN on the supplier’s invoice: calling a product an “interlocking tile” does not decide its class. The rates above do not say whether GST is included, so ask. If a written quote already includes GST, don’t add it again.

Buying checks under IS 15658:2021

Order by grade, not just thickness. IS 15658:2021 grades concrete paving blocks M-30, M-35, M-40, M-50 and M-55, and a 60, 80 or 100 mm label alone does not tell you the grade or the traffic it can take.

The BIS product manual for IS 15658:2021 lists those grades in Annex A and gives block thickness as 50 to 120 mm (thicker by agreement). Its Annex C test table (PDF page 8) covers dimensions and wearing-layer thickness under clause 7.2, and water absorption, compressive strength, abrasion resistance and tensile splitting strength under clause 7.3. We do not quote acceptance limits here; take them from the standard, with your pavement designer and testing lab.

1. Put the grade, thickness in mm, shape, colour and finish, single or double layer, and maker on the order. Ask for the maker’s laid pieces per m².
2. Match the batch number to its compressive-strength report. If the supplier claims BIS certification, check the licence scope.
3. Check delivered size, thickness, face and colour against the approved sample. Looking at blocks does not replace a strength test.
4. Get the billing unit, quantity, rate validity, GST, delivery, unloading and replacement terms in writing.
