AI agents for construction: a WhatsApp agent and a takeoff agent
We built two AI agents to run our own BOQ service. One answers enquiries on WhatsApp and collects drawings. The other reads drawings and measures quantities, and an engineer checks its work.

WhatsApp agent
Most of our enquiries arrive on WhatsApp. The agent answers the routine part of each chat, collects the drawings and project details, and hands the chat to a person when it needs a decision.
- Sends the first reply to common messages on its own, in short, plain WhatsApp messages.
- Asks what the team needs to know: owner, contractor or builder, which drawings are ready, and when work starts.
- Acknowledges drawings and files when they arrive, and saves them against the lead.
- Keeps every chat and file in one lead record, so nobody has to scroll back through WhatsApp.
- Hands over to a person for prices outside the price card, quotes, payments, complaints and anything unclear, and alerts them on WhatsApp.
Try it: message our BOQ line on WhatsApp.
Takeoff agent
The takeoff agent does the measuring behind our BOQ and BIM services. It reads the drawings, measures, and shows its working. A civil engineer reviews every sheet before it goes to a client.
- Reads PDF and DWG drawing sets and lists every sheet, its discipline and its revision before measuring.
- Builds the building element by element from the drawings and checks the result against printed dimensions.
- Measures quantities following IS 1200, into L×B×D measurement sheets and an item-wise BOQ in Excel.
- Marks the elements it counted on your own drawings, so each count can be checked on the sheet.
- Lists open questions where the drawings are silent or disagree, instead of guessing.
See its output in the sample BOQ, the case studies and our BIM modelling service.
How you can use them
Through our services, today
Send drawings to our BOQ from drawings service. The WhatsApp agent handles the first part of the chat, the takeoff agent measures your drawings, and an engineer checks the result. Your first project gets a free sample.
For your own firm, on request
If you want a WhatsApp agent for your own enquiries, or the takeoff agent for your estimating team, talk to us and we will tell you what we can set up. It is not a self-serve product yet.
Frequently asked questions
Can I sign up and use the agents myself?
Not yet. Both agents run our own BOQ service today. If you want them for your firm, message us on WhatsApp and we will talk through your setup.
Does a person check the takeoff agent's work?
Yes. A civil engineer reviews every sheet before it goes to a client. The agent does the reading and measuring; the engineer decides what is sent.
Does the WhatsApp agent quote prices or take payments?
No. It answers routine questions and collects drawings. Quotes, prices outside the price card, payments and complaints go to a person.
What drawings does the takeoff agent need?
PDF or DWG drawings. CAD files and vector PDFs work best. A phone photo of a drawing is not enough, because it has no measurable geometry.
How can I see the takeoff agent's output?
Send your drawings to our BOQ service for a quote, or look at the sample BOQ and case studies on this site.
